About The Team

GREAT PEOPLE WITH EVEN GREATER EXPERIENCE

Our team is comprised of some of the best PI’s in the country. Trustworthy, reliable, and effective.

After exhaustive research into the investigative field in Canada, in 2006 the decision was made to create Regent Private Investigations Inc. With an extensive business and investigation background, RPI founder and Director of Operations Mark Gates saw a unique opportunity to build an agency that puts its clients first. Canada’s business and legal communities are under serviced by professional, high quality investigation firms; he intended to fill that void.

Gates brought in 5 key figures to give RPI the solid management team required to be a real player in this fast paced, ever changing realm.

MEET THE TEAM

ROBERT GRAVES

Every successful company needs management people who are confident, personable, competent and resourceful. Rob Graves has an abundance of these qualities. He brings countless hours of investigative and leadership experience to his role as Director of Investigations. Quick thinking and intuitive, your investigative needs are in good hands with Rob leading the team assigned to your case. He will guide you through the entire process and be your advocate from initial consultation straight through to case completion.

RAYMOND LEIGHTON

In today’s complex computer age, experts in IT are a valuable resource in high demand. RPI is very fortunate to have Raymond as our Director of IT Services. His expertise includes all aspects of this diverse field. Raymond’s acumen is critical to clients; his skills afford them the ability to delve deeply into all applications. Previously Raymond managed the IT department for Worldsource Financial Management, a large Toronto investment firm. He oversaw the security and continuity of millions of dollars worth of daily transactions. Whatever your needs are, RPI is fully confident that Raymond and his staff can handle your IT requirements.

“DAVID SMITH” (pseudonym)

In an organization where only the elite are qualified, David Smith thrived. When CSIS (Canadian Security and Intelligence Service) was looking for new field operatives, it was no surprise that he was invited to become a covert agent. David spent many years protecting Canada’s national security. During his tenure with CSIS, he was involved in highly classified and extreme-risk activities including counter-espionage, counter-terrorism, intelligence gathering, and many others. RPI is proud to have him on our team as Lead High-Risk Investigator, providing exceptional counsel and working in the field on behalf of our most discriminating clients. Any client using him can be assured that when the case calls for advanced knowledge and specialized techniques, David is a champion in his field.

RANDY WILES

No one has more investigational experience than Randy. As a retired Sergeant with the Durham Regional Police Service intelligence and auto theft unit, he has logged countless hours of practical experience that he now brings to his role as Lead Covert Investigator for RPI. Randy has been declared an expert witness by the courts in the field of auto theft and auto identification. When sensitive, undercover surveillance is required, Randy’s experience, knowledge and discretion are absolute.

KAREN JOHNSON

Karen holds multiple nursing degrees as well as a Masters in education and was previously in charge of a busy Critical Care Unit at North York General in Toronto. She has also headed up the Emergency departments of several of the busiest hospitals in the country, including Sunnybrook, the regional trauma centre for Southern Ontario. Karen is often utilized by the legal community as an expert witness during civil and criminal proceedings, due to her impressive credentials and multitude of experience. If an RPI client requires guidance with a medical claim, WSIB submission, fake injuries, and many other issues, Karen is a valuable resource.

OPERATIONAL GEOGRAPHY

RPI has an international presence through our extensive contact network. Although based in Toronto Canada, we have the resources to follow anywhere a case leads us. We have reciprocal service agreements with respected investigation firms throughout North America. Simply put, wherever you need us, we’ve got it covered. Should you need service outside North America, all of our agents hold valid passports and are ready to go abroad on your behalf whenever the need arises.

OUR CORE VALUES

RPI staff believes in three core values when it comes to our clients.

INTEGRITY

As our client, you have put your trust in us, we take that very seriously. We will document all proceedings and expenses that occur on your behalf. Our records pertaining to your case are transparent to you, and are yours to view at your request.

VIGILANCE

The point of hiring us is to obtain accurate, undeniable evidence. We aren’t doing our job if we don’t provide that for you. It’s important to note however, that sometimes your suspicions may be incorrect. Regardless of the outcome of our investigation we dedicate ourselves to uncovering the truth and reporting our findings with confidence. This only happens with hard work, which you can be assured of when you hire RPI.

DISCRETION

This one is simple; your personal/professional information and the discussions you have with our investigators will stay between you and them. On occasion, confidential or potentially damaging information is disclosed or uncovered during the course of an investigation. At RPI we respect your right to privacy. In addition, we will do our best to ensure that no other party is aware of our involvement with you. The secret to being a good PI is to never be discovered!
